“Your Island Needs You” call to Isle of Man Golfers

Award-winning Isle of Man Golf Tours is calling on local golfers to help promote the Island and its stunning courses to potential visitors.

The Island’s only dedicated golf tour operator has made great strides in raising the profile of the Isle of Man as a destination of choice for golfers with its tailor-made packages and off-Island marketing and advertising. However, when potential visitors seek information from independent reference and review websites they found information that was incomplete and in some cases up to 10 years out of date!

In conjunction with the local golf clubs, Isle of Man Golf Tours have contacted the most popular websites and submitted updates to the information.

Founder Martin Young said: ‘Review sites are an important source of reference for any golfer looking to try out new courses. Searching for information on the Isle of Man’s courses I was disappointed to find the information was incomplete and any reviews that were posted were very dated and often didn’t paint a glowing picture. If I was a potential visiting golfer, I’d have been put off from visiting the Island.’

He explained: ‘As all golfers here know, the Isle of Man has stunning golf courses offering unique challenges to players set against spectacular scenic backdrops and with first-rate facilities. We are working hard around the UK and further afield to promote the Island as a destination for golfers, and we have been pleased to host many parties of guests, including plenty of first-time visitors, over the past two years.

‘We know from our experiences that many golfers looking for a new destination will visit popular websites to read reviews of courses before making their choices. That’s why we are calling on all Island golfers to visit these websites and post reviews about their courses and clubs, to help spread the message about the fantastic opportunities the Island offers.

‘Doing this will help raise the profile of the Island as a destination, while positive comments about our courses can be very influential in attracting potential visitors.‘

In addition to submitting course reviews, golfers are encouraged to share, where possible, photographs displaying the beauty of the Island’s scenery and its stunning courses. If you have pictures you’d like to share with Isle of Man Golf Tours as they continue to promote the Island, they can be uploaded at www.isleofmangolftours.com/yourphotos.

Martin added: ‘There is huge potential for further growth, but the involvement of the golfing community here is vital to achieving that. This isn’t about helping our business grow, as many golfers will organise their own trips. It is about helping to promote a tourism sector which can bring real economic benefit to the Isle of Man, real benefit to Manx businesses and, importantly for the golfing community, extra revenue to the courses to help with continued investment.

‘Growing the tourism sector is good for the Island, and we all have a part to play in achieving that.’

To help spread the word and profile the Island as ‘the place to go’, golfers can visit www.golfshake.com to leave course reviews, as well as submitting their photos to www.isleofmangolftours.com/yourphotos.
