YOUNG SNAPPERS CREATE A SHOWPIECE CHARITY CALENDAR

Children's Centre 2010 CalendarIsle of Man News, 8 December 2009 – It promises to be one of the most evocative calendars on sale this Christmas on the Isle of Man.  A highly personalised view of island life, witnessed by a new generation of budding photographers.

And this week Father Christmas was on hand to officially launch its festive unveiling.

The 2010 Children’s Centre calendar, sponsored by leading local insurers Tower Insurance, features a collection of digital photographs taken by youngsters – some as young as seven.

The pictures were snapped during the summer holidays at various locations and include shots of a miniature windmill in a garden, a cloudy day at the Tower of Refuge and another of a scrambling bike taken on Peel beach.

It’s the fourth year running the project has been backed by Tower, whose Managing Director Peter Gallagher attended the calendar’s launch.  All proceeds will go towards The Children’s Centre.

“We have been long standing supporters of The Children’s Centre and given the outstanding quality of the pictures and the production involved we are delighted  once again to be associated with this very worthwhile project. The children who took these pictures should be very proud of themselves,” said Mr Gallagher.

Marcie Dean, The Children’s Centre Fundraising Coordinator said the calendar would be available to the general public from each of the charity’s family centres – Bonwick House Ramsey, Barrule House Ballasalla, The Philip Christian Centre Peel and from Woodbourne Road Douglas.

“We are very grateful to Tower Insurance for their continued sponsorship,” she said. “It is a project that the children are very enthusiastic about and it gives them a real sense of achievement when it comes into production,” she said.
