SURE SKATE ATTRACTS THOUSANDS IN FIRST WEEK

Isle of Man News, 8 December 2009 – In just one week, more than 5,000 islanders have strapped on skates and taken to the ice at Sure Skate.

Since the rink at the Villa Marina Gardens opened to the public last Tuesday, 24 November, it has attracted thousands of people, with thousands more expected to enjoy the attraction before it closes on 3 January.

Now, a competition has been launched to find the photo that captures the essence of the event. The competition is being sponsored by Nokia Siemens Networks, who partnered with Sure to bring the first real ice skating rink to the Isle of Man. To enter the competition, islanders just have to take a photo on their mobile phone at Sure Skate and text it to 238238.

Mike Stanton, Sure’s Country Manager, said: “Judging from its popularity, the ice rink seems to have captured everyone’s imagination, and we want to find a photo that captures its spirit.

“The cameras on mobile phones are of such high quality that we expect everyone at the rink to be taking photos of themselves and their friends. We just want everyone to send their best ones to 238238 – it’s easier than texting and we have a great prize! We will put all the photos online, so everyone can see how much fun Sure Skate is.”

For Sure customers, it’s free to enter, and other entrants will only be charged their networks standard MMS rate. The winner will receive a Nokia 5630 Xpress Music phone, more details and full terms and conditions are available at http://www.sureskate.com/ice/page-299.

Ralf Leffin, Nokia Siemens Networks, commented: “This competition is a great way to encourage people to set up their phones for MMS, see how fun picture messaging can be and utilise the high quality, reliable network infrastructure which Sure has in the Isle of Man.”   The Sure Skate ice rink is open until 3 January, and the competition closes a day later. More details, and tickets for the skating, are available at: www.sureskate.com.
