PDMS DIGITAL DESIGN GIVES THE CHILDREN’S CENTRE A BRIGHT NEW FUTURE ONLINE

Isle News, 26 October 2009 – Leading Web Developer Hands Isle of Man Charity Full Control With Easy-To-Use Web Content Management System

The Isle of Man Children’s Centre not only has a fresh, bright, new website (www.thechildrenscentre.org.im) that perfectly reflects the charity’s culture and mission, now for the first time staff members are firmly in control of managing the site, thanks to a new, easy-to-use content management system from PDMS Digital Design, the Island’s largest web development company.

“The Children’s Centre was planning a major website upgrade, but at the same time the charity wanted a site that staff members could update themselves without needing a lot a of IT knowledge and skills,” said Jim Rawson, senior designer for PDMS’s Digital Design services. “Our solution is built with a user friendly content management system which allows people to quickly and easily publish content to the web using modern standards and technology.”

An independent Manx charity, The Children’s Centre develops, manages, and pioneers a variety of community initiatives and services aimed at enabling children, young people and families to realise their full potential.

Rebecca McCauley, development manager for the charity said, “Things here change quickly, and paying a specialist web designer for almost-daily website updates just doesn’t make sense for a charitable organisation like ours.  That’s why the PDMS approach worked best for us.”

Thanks to the web content management system, the new Children’s Centre website boasts a wide range of features and functions that make the site a useful resource, including:

Key word search
Contact forms
Events calendar
Content/news syndication (RSS) feeds
Photo galleries, downloadable documents and support for streaming video & podcasts
Online donation via PayPal

“Digital design is much more than just getting a website set up. To create an effective web presence, it takes a deep understanding of what makes the web work for organisations and individuals alike,” said Jim Rawson. “But with a content management system, once the design and build stage is complete, we can hand over  many web management aspects to our clients, saving them time and money.”

The new Children’s Centre website is one of many content management projects undertaken by PDMS for clients as diverse as the Isle of Man’s Chartered Institute of Management and Adventurous Experiences to the UK’s Police National FAQ website.

PDMS Digital Design offers a wide range of tried and tested content management solutions, each designed to reflect the differing scale and complexity of individual organisation’s requirements. Importantly, they also have the technical and business experience to ensure the right strategic platform choices.
