Following the recent Annual General Meeting of the Isle of Man Employers’ Federation, Seymour Corkill, Director of Quarrying, Manufacturing and Waste at Colas Holdings (IOM) Ltd was elected President for the 2013/14 year.

Mr Corkill commented:

‘I am delighted to take over this role from the retiring President, Les Nicol, who has successfully headed the Federation for the last three years through some of the worst trading conditions the local construction industry has experienced for over 20 years. I hope that I can maintain the impetus established by Les through the successful liaison established with Government, who remain the industry’s biggest client.

It is encouraging that Government continues to invest in construction projects that support the local industry, and it is particularly pleasing to see an item on the December Tynwald agenda for the new Isle of Man College Construction Crafts and Engineering Centre – Phase One. A project that will not only provide work for the local industry, but also ensure that high quality training facilities are available for our apprentices well into the future.’
