This month a team from Nedbank Private Wealth joined up with the Manx Wildlife Trust for a beach clean at their reserve at Cronk y Bing. An enthusiastic crowd of staff and their families took time out of their busy weekends to learn more about the area and clear it of litter.
Greg Horton, Managing Director of Nedbank Private Wealth, attended and commented: “As longstanding supporters of the Manx Wildlife Trust, we were delighted to play our part in protecting this beautiful untouched reserve to ensure the local and visiting wildlife continues to flourish here. To have so many volunteers giving up their own time to help out made for a very successful, lively and interesting afternoon.”
In January this year the bank announced that it had agreed financial support for the Manx Wildlife Trust to continue its key education officer role for a further twelve months. Over this time, Kath Smith, the Trust’s education officer has held an in-house presentation to the bank’s staff and a rock-pooling session in the summer. These, along with the beach clean mean the staff now have a much better understanding of the excellent work Manx Wildlife Trust does in educating children on the Island about local wildlife, and why it is so important for this work to continue.
