The Lonan Gentlemans Fellowship has added a new dimension to their fundraising efforts for their attempt on more world speed records at the Bonneville Speed Week 2014 in the USA. The local team of motorcycle enthusiasts made their first trip to the salt flats of Bonneville in 2012 and made an immediate impact, winning not one but two world records!
The team is now in full swing with their preparations for their next visit in May 2014 and will be taking two bikes to Utah in a bid for more world records. The first bike is 600 Manxman which is the record breaking 500 Manxman upgraded to 600cc and will compete in the 650 classes. The second is a brand new bike based on the Yamaha FZR600 which will be de-stroked to 489cc, this bike will be run in two 500cc production bike classes.
To help with their fundraising for this challenge the team have launched a fundraising page on local crowdfunding website, www.letscrowdit.com. Nicole Bodell of letscrowdit.com said “We are delighted that the Lonan Gentlemans Fellowship has chosen to post a fundraising project on our site to supplement their own fundraising efforts and I really hope the Manx public get behind them as they bid for more success at Bonneville next year”. “It is exactly this kind of project we wanted to help when we created the lets crowd it web site, bringing together the community to help this type of effort is really satisfying. The effort this group of friends has made to win world records is to be applauded and reflects fantastically well on the Isle of Man as a whole”.
