MANX Gas Racing is set to be a major presence at this year’s TT with a sponsorship announced by the company today (Friday) which sees ‘Klaus ‘Klaffi’ Klaffenbach managing a formidable sidecar team made up of 2009 World Champions Ben and Tom Birchall.
The Mansfield brothers recently signed to race for Klaffi Racing for a second year, which includes both the TT and the Southern 100. At last year’s TT they secured two podium finishes with a 2nd and 3rd place respectively. The relationship between three times TT winner Klaffi and Manx Gas stretches back through much of his riding career with the company sponsoring him since 2005.
“We very much value and enjoy the relationship we have had with Klaffi for the past eight years and are delighted to be supporting him and the Birchall brothers at this year’s TT with Klaffi as team principal for Manx Gas Racing,” said Gary Cregeen, marketing manager for Manx Gas.
He added: “The TT is internationally famous and it is only right that Manx Gas should be part of an event which attracts worldwide interest and brings significant benefits to the Island.”
Klaffi, who is now based in the Isle of Man, said the partnership between him and Manx Gas had been an integral part of his racing career.
“The continued support from Manx Gas is a great compliment to both myself and the whole team and I am very definitely excited to have Ben and Tom with me again,” he added. “We have had one year together and so we know how each other works and with my knowledge and their professionalism I’m looking forward to TT2013 with great confidence.”
