The Isle of Man will host the 27th annual European Airport Golf Society Championships in September, with more than 60 golfers already signed up to play at the stunning Douglas Golf Course.
The championships take place over two days, with players from Ireland, England, Scotland and Amsterdam confirmed to take part.
Award-winning Isle of Man Golf Tours is helping the hosts, the Isle of Man Airport Golf Society, organise what promises to be a memorable event.
The dedicated tour operator is offering a series packages to make it as easy as possible for players visiting the Island. In addition to accommodation at the four-star Best Western Palace Hotel and Casino, with the option of views over the stunning Douglas bay and promenade, Isle of Man Golf Tours will take care of all transfers, evening entertainment and even the provision of golf club hire.
Players will enjoy a practice round and a competition round at the famous Douglas Golf Course, designed by Alister MacKenzie, the man behind Augusta National. There will be gala dinners on both evenings of the championships, September 2nd and 3rd, and for those in no hurry to leave the Isle of Man on the September 4th, there will also be a ‘Hang Over’ Cup challenge round at the picturesque Rowany Golf Club.
There will also be opportunities for visiting golfers to experience the Isle of Man’s spectacular scenery, unique attractions and high quality, locally produced food and drink, including the renowned local beers.
Martin Young, of Isle of Man Golf Tours, said: ‘Organising an international event of this scale is very complex, so we are delighted to be able to share our experience and expertise with hosts the Isle of Man Airport Golf Society to ensure it is a success.
‘Alongside helping to arrange the championship schedule, we have put together tailored packages to suit visitors from societies all over Europe, so it is as easy as possible to join the event. One of our packages has already sold out, but there are still places available starting from as little as £180. I’d like to thank the Best Western Palace Hotel and Casino for their assistance in securing rooms to accommodate the visiting golfers.
‘We have created a dedicated booking page on our website, www.isleofmangolftours.com/ags, and players only need to pay an initial deposit of 10%, with the balance due six weeks before arrival – we have made taking part in the 27th European Airport Golf Society Championships as straightforward as possible.’
The involvement of Isle of Man Golf Tours has ensured hosting the event became a reality for the Isle of Man Airport Golf Society. Instead of the society making arrangements, contacting the many other societies and chasing payments, everything is being looked after by the tour operator, including special requirements of visiting golfers.
Isle of Man Airport Golf Society Captain David Stacey said: ‘We’re delighted with the organisation and planning offered by Isle of Man Golf Tours. Without their help we certainly would have struggled to arrange and co-ordinate the event. The online booking facility has been very well received by the visiting teams booking their places.
‘The Isle of Man Airport Golf Society members are looking forward to hosting this event and we can promise you a warm Manx welcome to the Isle of Man.’
