Local market and Country Kitchen at Dalby Harvest Day
There’s a full day of produce and pumpkins, cakes and cabbages, soup and sandwiches, at Dalby with the Harvest Home at St James on 7th of Oct. This unique little church and schoolrooms, decorated with wild and garden flowers for a traditional harvest Festival, will be open from 12.00 noon – 5.30pm with a Country kitchen serving homemade soups and lunches, teas, coffee and cakes. Throughout the day there’s also a village market in the schoolrooms selling a range of local produce, home baking, pies, preserves and pickles, buns and bread, chutneys, cakes and confectionary and veggies fresh from local fields and gardens..
The Harvest Festival finishes with a Songs of Praise starting at 5.30pm with the traditional harvest hymns, the Manx Choir Cliogaree Twooie, and memories, reflections and yarns based around the harvest from local farmers sharing their stories; guest preacher John Kennaugh will auction the remaining produce after the supper.
Everyone is welcome to drop by, come and spend some time with us in sharing our harvest thanksgiving.
Half of the proceeds of the day go to Hospice IoM and the Manx overseas Charity the Pahar Trust Nepal, the rest goes to Dalby Church and restoration fund. If you’d like to donate any produce, or help in any way please contact Cheryl on 843471.
