Local Bank offers solution to end of UK reciprocal health care agreement
Isle of Man News, 16 February 2010 – Isle of Man Bank is offering a solution to Manx residents when the reciprocal healthcare agreement with the UK ends on April 1 2010.
Although emergency treatment at an Accident & Emergency department or from a GP will remain free of charge in the UK for Isle of Man residents, operations, out patient treatment, treatment on a hospital ward and repatriation to the Isle of Man will no longer be available free of charge.
However, Isle of Man Bank’s Gold account customers may be covered for these circumstances by the annual family travel insurance which comes with the account.
Gold account customers pay a flat monthly fee of £12 in return for a number of benefits such as special deals on personal loans and other banking services, discounts on High Street products and services, a 24 hour concierge service, and multi-trip annual family travel insurance.
Deniese Smith, Senior Bank Manager at Isle of Man Bank commented:
‘When it became clear that Manx residents would no longer be able to obtain free medical treatment in the UK, we took the view that our insurance scheme should provide an alternative. Any Manx resident who wants to take advantage of the travel insurance benefits can apply for a Gold account and customers with a normal current account can easily upgrade.’
The same travel insurance cover and other benefits are also enjoyed by customers with a NatWest Advantage Cheque account or a Royal Bank of Scotland International Royalties Cheque account.
Travel Insurance is subject to terms and conditions.
