AWARDS to celebrate the achievements of Isle of Man students who receive top marks in their professional exams have been launched by STEP Isle of Man.
Every year five awards will be presented, one for each of the four diploma level papers; Trust Creation: Law and Practice, Company Law and Practice, Trustee Administration and Accounts and Trustee Investment and Financial Appraisal. The fifth award will be for the best mark overall on completion of the four parts of the STEP Diploma.
The first student to receive a prize from STEP Isle of Man is Graeme Cole, who scored the highest average score overall, across the four diploma papers.
To mark his achievement Graeme received a crystal award and £350 to donate to a Manx registered charity of his choice.
Graeme, a Senior Company and Trust Administrator at Abacus Trust Company in Douglas, said: “I was shocked to receive the news about my results and am really pleased to have my efforts rewarded by STEP Isle of Man in this way. My chosen charity is Wish Upon a Dream, which is also Abacus’ chosen charity and helps young people in the Island to achieve their dreams.”
The overall award is sponsored by STEP Isle of Man, with the individual paper awards being supported by local companies Appleby, Barclays Private Bank and Trust (Isle of Man) Limited, Royal London 360 and Simcocks.
Chairman of STEP Isle of Man Paul Hotchkiss said: “In the first instance STEP Isle of Man would like to congratulate Graeme on his academic success and we are pleased to present him with the first award of this kind from the Isle of Man Board.
“STEP Isle of Man is delighted to announce the launch of these special awards. All STEP students work immensely hard to reach this level and the Isle of Man Branch enjoys supporting them through their training and we are all proud of their success. These awards celebrate local students’ achievements in professional exams, which will stand them in good stead as they go on to flourish in their chosen careers.”
