King William's College "Something in Common" team

On Sunday 11th May the first “Something in Common” team triathlon took place in Ramsey. Teams were made up of three members who all had to have “something in common” e.g. work at the same place, be members of the same family, play for the same football team etc.

The first member of the team swam 750m (30 lengths of Ramsey swimming pool), the second cycled 20km and the third ran 5km. Buchan had 8 teams competing and King William’s College 7, with the leading male team (19th overall out of 78 teams) being the KWC P.E. staff (Messrs Hebden, Crabtree and Winrow). The leading female team was another from King William’s College – “Must Tri Harder” (Miss Ledger, Mrs Dunn and Miss Pate) whilst the leading mixed team was the Buchan’s “All the gear – no idea!” (Miss MacGregor, Chef Ciaran and Mrs Ilott). Team 170 (Mr Neil MacGregor, Mr Martin Humphreys,Principal, and Miss Corlett, Headteacher at The Buchan) failed to live up to their billing as pre-race favourites and are already in serious training for next year’s race!

A good time was had by all and the two schools easily won the award for most competitors from one workplace. Well done to everyone involved.
