Manx2.com are proud to support the Poppy Appeal and this year, working with the Royal British Legion, are inviting people to attend a ‘Poppy Breakfast’ on Monday 29th October at the Claremont Hotel, Douglas.
The event, to be opened by the Hon Steve Rodan, SHK, Island President of the Royal British Legion will start at 8am, and offers the opportunity to join Manx2.com and the Legion for breakfast and to find out more about how they can help their efforts to give the 2012 Poppy Appeal a real push. Thanks to the Claremont Hotel, breakfast is free in return for donations to the Poppy Appeal.
The Legion in the Island was delighted to be named as Manx2.com’s charity of the year for 2012 and it is hoped that this special event will provide a welcome springboard for this year’s Poppy Appeal.
Manx2.com Managing Director, David Buck, said: ‘The Island has a fantastic record of giving to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. Every year we raise the target and every year the people of the Island give more, demonstrating the generosity that is prevalent in our community and we are grateful to the Claremont Hotel for hosting and catering this breakfast event.
‘Now, in 2012, the need for your support has never been greater. Current conflict is affecting service people and their families in terrible ways, so it is imperative that the work of the Legion continues to help. The Legion offer aid and assistance to these individuals in so many ways, including medical support, help with rehabilitation, and being there for families in distress.’
Thanks to the Isle of Man’s generosity the Legion in the Island has won the ‘Poppy Cup’ by collecting more money than anywhere else in Britain for 30 successive years.
