Representatives from Isle of Man Stamps and Coins are preparing to go to Beijing next week to attend the China International Collection 2013 Expo.
The four-day exhibition, estimated to be attended by 60,000 people, will be held at the Beijing Exhibition Hall and will be an opportunity to showcase Isle of Man Stamps and Coins to what is becoming a rapidly growing philately market.
Maxine Cannon, General Manager Isle of Man Stamps and Coins said: “We are immensely excited about the trip which will be a great opportunity for us to further create awareness of the Isle of Man and our stamps in China. We have collectors all over the world and China is certainly a country with a keen interest in stamp collecting. We previously exhibited in Beijing in 2008 when there was a special stamps and coins expo during the Olympic Games. This was a very worthwhile trip and we expect this next one to be no exception.”
She added: “The Expo will provide us with the opportunity to strengthen our relationships with the China and Hong Kong Post Offices, meet the philately media and explore new business opportunities for selling our stamps. In recent times we have seen a growth in sales coming from China and as a result we have a dedicated website landing page in Chinese. The people of China are very hospitable and approachable and we are very much looking forward to meeting and working with them in promoting all we have to offer from the Isle of Man. We encourage as many people to come and visit our stand as possible (Hall 3, stand number 310) where they will receive a very warm welcome and insight into our small and mystic Island of the British Isles.”
During the Expo some key stamp issues will be promoted including the Queen’s visit to China which features in the Newspaper Headlines issue released in July, along with other issues produced this year including the Year of the Snake miniature sheet, Three Legs of Man, HRH Prince George of Cambridge collectables, the Queen’s Coronation 1953-2013 and Robin Gibb- 50 St Catherine’s Drive stamps.
