ISLE OF MAN TOURISM is pleased to announce that registration for ‘Taste Isle of Man’ 2013/14 is now open and is inviting all eateries on the Island to take part in the scheme.

This is the sixth year of the quality assurance scheme which was introduced to help visitors and residents choose from the diverse range of eating out options and boost consumer confidence. The scheme is open to any type of quality eating out establishment from restaurants to coffee shops and fish and chip shops.

The Taste initiative is part of a national quality assessment scheme benchmarked throughout the British Isles and there are currently 50 members Island-wide. It is based on a completely independent assessment taking place and provides the consumer with a clear indication of quality including warmth of welcome, service, hospitality, cleanliness and commitment to the use of local produce. Those who achieve the accreditation are awarded a ‘Quality Assured’ or ‘Highest Quality Assured’ sign to display outside their premises and will feature on the website which currently receives over 50,000 visitors per month.

Geoff Corkish MBE, MHK, Political Member for the Department of Economic Development with responsibility for Tourism, said:
‘Taste Isle of Man recognises the importance of the food and drink to the Island and is the perfect way to acknowledge businesses providing a consistently high quality eating experience.

‘The scheme has been running since 2008 and I have had the greatest pleasure of watching it grow as each year more eating establishments successfully gain accreditation. I would encourage businesses wishing to improve their standards and having them recognised to contact Isle of Man Tourism to apply to become a member of this valuable scheme, which promotes the continuous quality improvement for eating out in the Isle of Man to the benefit of our visitors and residents alike.’

Angela Byrne, Head of Tourism, said:
‘Our aim is to enrol as many businesses as possible into the scheme to encourage the provision of outstanding quality and service while at the same time enhancing the overall visitor experience and improving the quality of life for Manx residents.

‘The scheme reassures potential customers that they can be guaranteed a good quality experience whenever they see the ‘Quality Assured’ sign displayed outside the premises.’

All successful venues are publicised in a directory of participants which is distributed at outlets throughout the Island, including the Welcome Centre at the Sea Terminal. They are also featured on Isle of Man Tourism’s website

To enrol for the ‘Taste Isle of Man’ scheme contact or telephone 01624 695700. The closing date for applications is Monday 17th December 2012.
