HSBC in the Isle of Man announces new look senior management team

Ian Bush, Ed Ogden, Kevin CartledgeIsle of Man News, 18 December 2009 – HSBC has completed a re-structure of its senior management team in the Isle of Man as part of a renewed commitment to providing a comprehensive range of financial services to Island residents.

Kevin Cartledge has been appointed to an expanded role of Senior Manager, HSBC in the Isle of Man, which he will undertake alongside his existing role as Senior Banking Operations Manager.  Ed Ogden has also assumed additional responsibilities as Area Commercial Director for the Bank and Ian Bush has been appointed to a new role as Head of Personal Financial Services.

Together, the three-strong senior management team has a clear focus on the Bank’s two core areas of its business, personal financial services and commercial and corporate banking. The team is operating from HSBC House, the landmark building in the centre of Douglas which was recently the focus of a £1 million refurbishment programme, making it one of the most advanced of the HSBC Bank branches in the country, combining the availability of traditional relationship management services, alongside state of the art automated facilities and e-banking services.

Kevin Cartledge was originally from Nottinghamshire and has worked for the Bank since 1975 when he joined Midland Bank. He first moved to the Isle of Man in 1981 and after a five year spell working in the Channel Islands, he returned to the Isle of Man in 1992. He was appointed project manager when HSBC International centralised its back office operations in the Isle of Man in 1997 and he was previously senior banking operations manager for HSBC International.

Ed Ogden leads a team of relationship managers handling the needs of the entire range of business customers in the Island in all the economic sectors ranging from the major commercial businesses, the specialist financial firms, trust companies and corporate services providers and start up businesses.

He has worked for Midland Bank and HSBC for 24 years, beginning his career in Manchester. He was area retail manager in Lancashire, based in Preston, before moving to the Isle of Man in 2007.

Ian Bush has responsibility for the team looking after the personal financial needs of Premier, Wealth and Retail customers covering all aspects of financial planning and service provision.  His team also advises those customers when first setting up a business.

Having joined Midland Bank in 1976, Ian has more than 33 years of banking experience and has worked in a number of branch managerial roles in Merseyside, including Dale Street (City branch) in Liverpool. Most recently he was Area Manager for Liverpool, covering twelve regional branch outlets focusing on personal and small business customers.

Dave Hellen, Regional Director for HSBC Isle of Man and Channel Islands, said:

‘The re-structure is the springboard for a renewed commitment to providing a comprehensive range of financial services for our customers in the Isle of Man. As part of this commitment, we have invested significantly in the flagship premises in recent times and we have revised the management structure resulting in the formation a new dedicated senior management team with years of financial services’ experience to call upon.’
