Santander’s two local savings subsidiaries, Bradford & Bingley International and Alliance & Leicester International supply Manx Blind Welfare Society with portable electronic magnifier
Santander’s two local savings subsidiaries, Bradford & Bingley International (BBI) and Alliance & Leicester International (ALI) have assisted Manx Blind Welfare Society (MBWS) by donating £500 for them to purchase more specialist equipment.
MBWS are just one of the many charities BBI and ALI are supporting during 2010 and they were delighted when they were able to hand over on the electronic magnifiers recently.
Commenting on the gift Doreen Smith, Principal Officer of MBWS said “We are absolutely delighted that BBI and ALI were able to make such a generous donation. They are particularly useful because they are pocket-sized and can be used to read anything from maps and prices to bus timetables. At times of such economic uncertainty your support is very much appreciated.”
Community affairs manager George Campbell added “Whilst the financial economy is going through turmoil it is more important than ever that charities receive support to ensure they can carry on their good work in helping those less fortunate. I am delighted that we have been able to support the MBWS, knowing that our donation will go some way to ensuring visually impaired persons maintain their independence.”
