Born and bred on the Isle of Man, Rob Heeney wanted to share some of the Island’s characters with the world. Luckily, he has the platform to do just that; his hit podcast “People with Stories”.
It’s a deceptively simple format; each week, Rob features someone telling him real life stories, but it’s proving popular with listeners all over the world. His guests usually come from a wide range of backgrounds but in celebration of his Manx heritage, he’s devoted the past 3 episodes solely to Isle of Man residents.
Rob explains, “We have a great tradition of storytelling on the Isle of Man and some great characters and I really wanted to share that with my listeners.”
‘The Isle of Man Trilogy’ is episodes 33 (which features Dot Tilbury) 34 (Derry Kissack) & 35 (Katherine Crowe). Anyone with internet access can listen at: http://is.gd/pwstories (iTunes) or http://is.gd/podbay (non iTunes)
So, will there be any more Isle of Man Stories featured?
“I really hope so,” says Rob “I’m back home a few times a year and there some more people I’d really love to interview”.
In fact, Rob plans to return in the Autumn to record his debut live stand-up DVD and is currently looking for an appropriate venue.
“If anyone would like to suggest a suitable venue in Douglas for the DVD recording, or indeed, someone they think would make a brilliant guest on the podcast, do email email@example.com”
