Professor St John Bates has presented Tynwald with a personal portrait in memory of his service as Clerk of Tynwald from 1987 to 2001.

Receiving the portrait, which will be displayed in the Tynwald Library on long-term loan, the Speaker of the House of Keys Steve Rodan SHK said: ‘As Clerk of Tynwald Professor Bates was noted for his wise counsel and exceptional knowledge of parliamentary procedures much valued by Members. We are delighted to receive the painting which will serve as a welcome reminder of St John’s time with us.’
