For the third successive year Celton Manx is to sponsor two of Douglas Borough Council’s most popular community events, the fireworks display on Tuesday November 5th and the Christmas lights switch-on ceremony on Thursday November 21st.
The two events will also be supported by 3 FM.
The Mayor of Douglas Councillor Carol Malarkey will be presiding over each occasion, setting off the bonfire on Douglas beach at 6.45pm and switching on the Christmas lights outside Douglas town hall at 7pm.
Douglas Borough Council’s champion of community events Councillor John Faragher said: ‘Every year these two family events attract tremendous crowds and have become firm favourites in the town’s entertainments calendar. Both are fantastic examples of partnership working at its best, thanks to the tremendous hard work of Council officers and staff and the generous sponsorship of Celton Manx together with the support of 3FM.’
Celton Manx executive director Bill Mummery said: ‘Celton Manx believes in channelling its support in ways that can benefit the widest cross section of the community, so once again we are pleased to be sponsoring these two large-scale events that not only prove unfailingly popular with all generations but also add vibrancy and colour to the town. Thanks to the hard work of all those involved, not least Douglas Borough Council, I am sure the fireworks display will be a “sure-fire” success and the Christmas lights switch-on ceremony a dazzling start to the festive season in Douglas.’
