The Diana Princess of Wales Care at Home Trust has presented a cheque for £20,000 to Hospice Isle of Man as its most recent contribution towards the cost of providing the hospice at home service – through a dedicated ‘Diana’ nurse. At an event, which also marked the retirement of Laura Watterson after seven years’ involvement and Ralph Thomas after 15 years’ involvement with the Trust as Trustee and Treasurer, the cheque was handed over to Hospice Chairman Sir Miles Walker CBE.
Chairman of the Trust Ron Spencer said: “Ralph is one of the founder Trustees from 1998 and has been a dedicated stalwart of the Trust, especially in his role as Treasurer. Laura joined us in 2006 and was a further invaluable volunteer for the cause. We’re hugely thankful for their support and help in raising a further £50k in 2013.”
Sir Miles, in thanking the Trust for the ongoing donations, paid tribute to Ralph and Laura and he too wished to record the gratitude of Hospice Isle of Man to the Diana Care at Home Trust and to Ralph and Laura.
Ron Spencer continued: “We need to raise at least a further £50k target for 2014 and the Diana Trust welcomes any offers from companies who might consider them as one of their ‘charities of the year’ for this year and beyond.
