‘Date’ the perfect volunteer for your organisation
The Department of Health is asking for expressions of interest for those who wish take part in one of the Island’s biggest ever volunteer recruitment events. Organisations looking for volunteers and those keen to volunteer but unsure where to start will have a chance to find their ‘perfect match’ at the event which is being planned by the Department of Health’s Noble’s Hospital Volunteer Service on Saturday, 2 March 2013 at the Sefton Hotel.
Between 10.00am and 2.00pm, there will be a ‘Speed Dating’ style event in the Garden Room at the Sefton Hotel. The aim is that voluntary organisations will be able to chat to prospective volunteers, and hopefully many great and lasting partnerships will be formed. Volunteer ‘Cupid’ for the day will be Manx Telecom TV’s Paul Moulton who will compére proceedings, with Noble’s Hospital’s Healing Arts Manager, Mark Burrows, providing music.
Minister for Health, David Anderson MHK said: “This is another fine example of ingenuity and innovation from Noble’s Hospital Volunteer Service. With Government becoming more dependent on partnership working with the voluntary sector in this tough financial climate, events like this are crucial to putting the many people who wish to volunteer their time in touch with many of the Island’s services who depend upon them. The Department’s Volunteer Service, which operates Island wide, has become an integral part of the Island’s Health Service and without our volunteers’ support we could not deliver the customer care and range of services we provide today.”
Alison Lester, Noble’s Hospital Volunteer Service Manager said: “This will be a great opportunity for those organisations actively recruiting volunteers and for potential volunteers to find out more. It should be a fun event and hopefully something we may be able to facilitate annually. We are extremely grateful to the Sefton Group for sponsoring the event this year and we hope that many of the Island’s voluntary organisations will want to be involved. However places will be limited to 30, so if you are an organisation looking to recruit volunteers and would like more information or you wish to book your place at this exciting event, then please contact us as soon as possible.”
Organisations who wish to take part are invited to contact Noble’s Hospital Volunteer Service on 650720 or email alison.lester@gov.im by Monday, 4 February 2013.
