A fundraising calendar project has won support from the Isle of Man community, with photographs being donated and sponsors coming forward, and there’s still time for you to get involved.
In April, Manx Blind Welfare Society launched a hunt for photographs for its 2015 calendar. Building on the tremendous success of its 2014 calendar, which sold hundreds of copies all over the world, the charity appealed to photographers to submit pictures which show the Island in a different way.
The Society also asked Island firms to sponsor individual pages, to help meet the production cost and ensure all money raised through sales goes directly to providing vital services for more than 600 people with serious sight loss on the Isle of Man.
Volunteers Coordinator and Events Organiser Debbie Kenyon said she had been overwhelmed by the response.
She explained: ‘Just hours after announcing we would be producing a 2015 calendar to raise funds I started receiving beautiful pictures of the Island which the photographers, both professional and amateur, kindly said we could use in the project.
‘The theme is “Seeing the Island Differently”, so we have been looking for photos which show the spectacular beauty of the Isle of Man in an unusual or unique way.
‘With the wonderful selection we have already received, we know it is going to be a stunning calendar, but there is still time to send in more if you would like us to consider including them.
‘I was also delighted to hear from many local companies, including several who supported us in 2014, asking about opportunities to sponsor the calendar to help make sure all the money raised from sales goes directly to supporting our work. Some of the pages have already been sponsored, but there are still opportunities if anyone would like to get involved.’
The Society will have the calendar on sale at the Tynwald Day fairfield on 7th July, and copies can be reserved now by calling 674727 or emailing email@example.com.
If you have a photo you’d like to submit, or are interested in sponsoring a page in the calendar, from just £150, please get in touch by May 31st.
There is a very small number of 2014 MBWS Calendars still available to purchase for £5. They are available from Corrin Court in Onchan or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
