Bradford & Bingley International and Alliance & Leicester International choose the lucky 3 dozen!

BBI & ALIL 12 days Charity winnersIsle of Man News, 8 February 2010 – Bradford & Bingley International and Alliance & Leicester combine to support 36 different charities during 2010!

Santander’s two local savings subsidiaries, Bradford & Bingley International and Alliance & Leicester International will not be supporting a Charity of the Year during 2010, instead they will be supporting 36!

Following a request in December for charities to submit their “wish lists”, an independent decision panel met to decide the eventual winners.  With 3 categories available of a gift up the value of £500, proceeds from a monthly dress down day during 2010 or assistance from staff at the banks with a fundraising venture of the charity’s choice, over 100 requests were received.

This year will see Santander’s Manx subsidiaries providing support such as sponsorship of the Cancer Research Relay for Life as well as the staff helping transform the Save the Children shop as part of a changing rooms project.  These are just two of the varied requests that were granted.

A reception to congratulate the winners was held courtesy of King Williams College where the lucky recipients received their prizes.  Commenting on the support the banks will be providing in 2010, community affairs manager George Campbell said “Whilst many organisations choose to support a Charity of the Year, we felt that there are so many worthwhile charities on the Island that to pick one would be difficult – in fact picking 36 was no easy task!  We look forward to working with the charities during 2010, particularly where we will be providing manpower assistance as this once again shows that whilst cash donations are always needed, some extra bodies to help at an event can be just as beneficial.”
