Staff at RBS International celebrated Andy Murray’s success at being shortlisted for BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2012. This year Murray’s successes include winning gold at the Olympics as well as being the first Brit to win a Grand Slam tennis event in 76 years.
Jumping for joy outside their Douglas office in Victoria Street this enthusiastic crowd of supporters from RBS International are hoping Murray secures enough votes to be presented the prestigious award. With the wealth of talent being shortlisted for this year’s award, it will be difficult to choose a winner. This photograph in front of large visuals of Andy Murray which have been on display in the windows of the branch for several years marks the RBS Group’s sponsorship of Andy Murray over the last 10 years.
In the last couple of years, the Isle of Man Bank, also part of RBS International, has been supporting junior tennis on the Island by providing funding to the junior teams as they travel to the mainland to compete. Isle of Man Bank also support the highlight of the junior tennis year, the Junior Tennis Championships held on the artificial grass courts at Kensington Road following Wimbledon when the best young players aged 8 to 18 take part in the largest junior tennis competition on the Island.
BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2012 will be aired on BBC1 on Sunday, 16th December at 7.30pm.
