The Isle of Man eClub celebrated the start of the New Year with its fourth eGaming event, which took place at the Courthouse Club on Thursday 19th January. Sponsored by leading trust company Equiom, the event was hosted as a warm up party for London’s Totally ICE conference – running from 23rd January through to 26th January 2012.
Bringing together like-minded gaming professionals from a range of different disciplines, the eClub again proved to be a tremendous hit – this time in large part due to its retro theme. Nostalgic 80s anthems and classic sweets set the scene, whilst guests were spoilt for choice with the range of ’old school’ games available. However, between the 4-player Goldeneye on the N64 console, Mario Kart on the GameCube and Pac-Man and Space Invaders arcade machines, Pac-Man proved to be the most popular – with several guests each taking a turn in the hope of achieving the highest score.
Equiom’s Legal Director and Head of eGaming, Barry Smith, was extremely pleased with the support shown for the gathering: “eGaming is a key part of Equiom’s ongoing strategic development and we are fully committed to this flourishing sector. We were delighted to become more actively involved with the eClub – which we see as an important part of the continued growth of this sector on the Island, and were pleased to see so many attendees enjoying the retro theme.”
Also commenting on the popularity of the eClub was Special Adviser for the Department of Economic Development, John Spellman: “The sharing of ideas and experience is fundamental to the building of a vibrant sector. We are delighted to endorse the eClub which brings together business professionals from across the sector in a convivial environment. The most recent event, sponsored and excellently coordinated by Equiom, was a resounding success; a perfect prelude to the ICE Gaming Conference”.
