Leading fiduciary and fund administration services provider, Abacus, has shown their support to the Manx Children in Need Appeal organised by registered charity, the Isle of Man Lions Club for the third year running.
The Douglas-based company has donated a sum of £206, raised through a staff cake bake sale, to the local initiative run by the Isle of Man Lions Club to assist them in the help they provide to young children across the Island.
The Manx Children in Need Appeal has been running since 1985 and benefits local children and young people on the Island. They offer a range of assistance; from the provision of special equipment for handicapped children in schools, to financial assistance for clubs, as well as assistance to parents whose children are in need of treatment at Alder Hey Hospital.
President of the Isle of Man Lions Club, Ken Barnes said, “On behalf of the Isle of Man Lions Club I would like to thank the staff at Abacus for their continued support and for their kind donation which will go a long way to helping some of the local children in need. Through our close network of contacts we ensure that all monies received for the Manx Children In Need Appeal is used wisely and to the best benefit of the children and young people on the Isle of Man.
“The Isle of Man Lions Club has no administration costs as all of our club services are provided free of charge. This enables us to ensure that 100% of any funds donated and/or raised goes straight to providing valuable and much needed assistance to local people.”
Abacus’ Tax Director, Andrew Cardwell said: “On behalf of the staff at Abacus, I am delighted to present this year’s cheque to The Isle of Man Lions Club and their Manx Children In Need Appeal. Many organisations, firms, offices, schools and individuals put a lot of effort into a number of fundraising initiatives to raise money for the national Children in Need appeal every year. By redirecting some of those fantastic ideas into helping the Isle of Man Lions Club’s Manx Children in Need appeal, we can guarantee that genuine cases of need here on the Island benefit. Abacus is proud to have supported Manx Children In Need for the last three years running and hopes to continue to do so in the future.”
The Isle of Man Lions Club arranges a host of fundraising initiatives and events each year with the aim to raise money for local people and local causes. Their annual Christmas Market was held last month at the Mount Murray Hotel and Country Club and 2014 promises to see many more events organised, including a performance of Oscar Wilde’s comedy, Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime, which will be held on 20 March 2014 at Ramsey Grammar School and 21 March 2014 at The Erin Arts Centre.
