3FM is sponsoring the Official Team Isle of Man Commonwealth Games App.
Available to download on Android, Apple IoS app stores and on the 3FM website; it’ll help you keep up to date on Glasgow 2014 – with quick links to up-to-the-minute athlete profiles.
There’s a live schedule, results and detailed athlete profiles for each competition, with a medal table, a ‘social hub’ for social media updates and a link to get autographs from fan favourites.
Juliet Holt is the president of Team Isle of Man, she says the app will be at the heart of the action: “We are very grateful to 3FM for sponsoring the Team IOM app. A joint venture between the Commonwealth Games Federation and Commonwealth Games Associations of Wales and Scotland, it’s the first time that this type of technology has been available to Commonwealth Games teams. Team Isle of Man was one of the first teams to embrace this exciting innovation; which is going to be a great tool for the whole Island to follow their team at the Commonwealth Games.”
All of the commonwealth nations jumped on the app movement following Scotland and Wales’ lead with apps produced by the Commonwealth Games Federation. After 24-hours, the Manx app has already been downloaded nearly 100 downloads times.
Many unknown athletes from the Island are going up against the sporting world’s elite in this year’s 20th games; like double Olympic and world champion,Mo Farah and Usain Bolt.
Tim Kneale, a Manx shooter, will fly our flag at the opening ceremony at Celtic Park on the 23rd of this month; to include a Parade of Nations and formal procession by 4,500 athletes and their coaches.
Ron Berry, managing director says: “We have some fantastic home-grown Manx talent and are happy to show our support; the app is a great way for everyone to do that by interacting with the games, which holds the gold in participation and collaboration at it’s very core.”
The app is also available online at www.three.fm.
